Quality Matters In-Person

Quality Matters (QM) serves as the nation's gold standard for excellence in online and hybrid teaching, encompassing design, navigation, materials, assessment, engagement, support, success, and accessibility. These standards are drawn from the finest teaching practices and insights from instructional design experts. Approved by the Faculty Senate, Academic Affairs, Academic Administrators, and the Teaching and Learning Technologies Committee, this set of quality assurance standards not only underpins faculty promotion and tenure evaluation forms but also has the capacity to enhance any mode of course delivery.

We will review the new 7th edition set of 44 standards and provide resources and faculty examples. During the 3-day training, faculty will evaluate their chosen course to identify areas where standards are already met and can be enhanced, as well as pinpoint areas where standards have not yet been met and can be incorporated.

This training is open to full-time faculty and active adjunct, but highly encouraged for Business and Technical Education faculty whose courses are scheduled for a QM peer review during summer 2024 and Math and Public Safety courses scheduled for review fall 2024, spring 2025, and summer 2025.

Training will be held on Tuesday-Thursday, May 14-16 daily, via Teams and CCEN 243.  In-person attendance is highly encouraged. Virtual participants will receive a link via WS email to the session prior to the event. You will need a computer with an internet connection to attend virtually. Participants only need to register one time for the training; registration is for each day.

Only faculty who have taught Fall 2023, Spring 2024, or are currently teaching may receive pay for this training.  Faculty members who have completed this training before must receive permission to be compensated for it from the Executive Director of IDEAS: Candace Justice (candace.justice@ws.edu).  Faculty members who attend and complete an assessment of the training will receive extra compensation of $200 (pre-tax) paid according to payroll’s established deadlines. If you have questions about the training, please contact Kay Heck (kay.heck@ws.edu).
