HIPS-8 Quality Dimensions: Discussion In-Person
Engaging students in meaningful discussions is a powerful tool for learning, whether you're implementing a High-Impact Practice or not. Faculty will learn how to create an inclusive environment where students feel they belong and actively contribute to the course discussions. We will cover techniques for developing classroom discussions (both in person and online) that promote critical thinking and deeper understanding.
Training will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 10am-12pm via Teams ONLY. Participants will receive a link via WS email to the session prior to the event. You will need a computer with an internet connection to attend virtually.
Only faculty who have taught Spring 2024, Summer 2024 or are currently teaching may receive pay for this training. Faculty members who have completed this training before must receive permission to be compensated for it from the Executive Director of IDEAS: Candace Justice (candace.justice@ws.edu). Faculty members who attend and complete an assessment of the training will receive extra compensation of $50 (pre-tax) paid according to payroll's established deadlines. If you have questions about the training, please contact Angie Elkins (angie.elkins@ws.edu).
