Teaching and Learning Academy: Alternative Assessments In-Person

Alternative Assignments is a professional development training designed to help faculty create more engaging and effective assignments. The session will explore strategies to prevent AI use and plagiarism, incorporate reflection and group activities, and utilize problem-based learning to promote critical thinking. In addition, instructors will learn how to provide meaningful feedback that fosters student growth and engagement. Gain practical tools to innovate your assignments and create more impactful learning experiences for your students.

Training will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, June 11-12 from 9am-3pm, daily via CCEN 243. Please bring a device. Please only register for one day of the event. Registration is linked. Registering for one day will register you for the entire event. 

All staff are welcome to attend this professional development but cannot be compensated for the event. Only faculty who have taught Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or are currently teaching may receive pay for this training.  Faculty members who have completed this training before must receive permission to be compensated for it from the Executive Director of IDEAS: Candace Justice (candace.justice@ws.edu). Faculty members who attend and complete an assessment of the training will receive extra compensation of $150 (pre-tax) paid according to payroll's established deadlines.
