Spaced Education: The First Week of Class In-Person
Want professional development, but you simply don’t have time to attend a training? Try out this new PD format!
For four weeks, you will receive an email every Monday with a short, direct video that teaches you one thing. During the week, you use the link in the email to post your thoughts about that one thing to a shared webpage (Padlet wall). After 5 weeks, you have 5 new tips/tricks to incorporate into your class, and you never had to attend a formal training! This summer’s theme for Spaced Education is the First Week of Class. How can we use the first week of class to make the best first impression, both in eLEARN and in person?
Training will be held from July 7-31. No attendance is necessary. Participants are expected to read their email message each week and reply on the Padlet wall.
All staff are welcome to attend this professional development but cannot be compensated for the event. Only faculty who have taught Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or are currently teaching may receive pay for this training. Faculty members who have completed this training before must receive permission to be compensated for it from the Executive Director of IDEAS: Candace Justice (candace.justice@ws.edu). Faculty members who attend and complete an assessment of the training will receive extra compensation of $50 (pre-tax) paid according to payroll's established deadlines. If you have questions about the training, please contact Erin Bilotti (erin.bilotti@ws.edu). If this professional development opportunity is full, you may register for the waitlist. You will be contacted closer to the training date if space is available.
