HIPs: Study Abroad Faculty Info Session  In-Person

This session is for faculty interested in teaching abroad through TBR Global Studies (formerly TNCIS) and those who want to promote international opportunities to students. We’ll provide an overview of both faculty and student experiences, including what to expect from the application process and how to begin developing your course and syllabus. We’ll also share practical strategies for encouraging students to explore global learning opportunities.

This professional development is open to full-time and adjunct faculty from all disciplines. Since student applications for 2026 open October 1, and the study abroad scholarship deadline is fast approaching, now is the perfect time to help students get started.
Faculty applications for 2027 open November 1, making this an ideal time to begin planning ahead.

Training will be held on September 30 from 2 to 4 pm via Teams only. Participants will receive a link via WS email to the session prior to the event. You will need a computer with an internet connection to attend virtually.

Only faculty who have taught Spring 2025, Summer 2025 or are currently teaching may receive pay for this training.  Faculty members who have completed this training before must receive permission to be compensated for it from the Executive Director of IDEAS: Candace Justice (candace.justice@ws.edu).  Faculty members who attend and complete an assessment of the training will receive extra compensation of $50 (pre-tax) paid according to payroll's established deadlines. If you have questions about the training, please contact Angie Elkins (angie.elkins@ws.edu).
