Inclusive Strategies for HIPs In-Person
High-Impact Practices (HIPs) are most effective when every student has the opportunity to fully engage and succeed. This session focuses on practical, inclusive strategies to ensure your HIPs—such as service-learning, undergraduate research, and learning communities—are accessible, equitable, and responsive to student needs.
We’ll explore ways to support nontraditional, first-generation, and neurodivergent learners, as well as those balancing school with work, caregiving, or other responsibilities. You’ll leave with simple, high-impact adjustments that can help all students thrive—without needing to overhaul your course.
Training will be held on October 9, from 1-3 pm via Teams Only. Participants will receive a link via WS email to the session prior to the event. You will need a computer with an internet connection to attend virtually.
Only faculty who have taught Spring 2025, Summer 2025 or are currently teaching may receive pay for this training. Faculty members who have completed this training before must receive permission to be compensated for it from the Executive Director of IDEAS: Candace Justice (candace.justice@ws.edu). Faculty members who attend and complete an assessment of the training will receive extra compensation of $50 (pre-tax) paid according to payroll's established deadlines. If you have questions about the training, please contact Angie at Angie.Elkins@ws.edu.
