UDL Summer Academy In-Person

The UDL Summer Academy is more than a summer training; it is a pilot program that seeks to encompass the use of UDL principles and guidelines in Walters State Courses while creating UDL mentors that can assist and train other faculty.

First, UDL Summer Academy training will focus on learning and implementing UDL principles. Attendees will be asked to create one UDL unit/module/chapter in a course of the instructor’s choice.

In August, each faculty member will meet with an Instructional Design representative to go over the UDL unit/module/chapter and assessments. After this meeting and completion of the training survey, the faculty member will receive extra compensation of $300 (pre-tax) which goes into their payroll according to Payroll’s established deadlines.

Each UDL mentor will pilot the unit in at least one section during Fall 2018. At the end of fall, a follow-up report will be submitted that details the results of the pilot, with a second level of compensation ($200 pre-tax) which goes into payroll according established deadlines.

Upon completion of the pilot in December, attendees become UDL mentors and may conduct UDL mentor-led training. If you have questions about this process, please contact Candace Justice (Candace.justice@ws.edu; 423.585.6765).

The UDL Academy will be held on the Morristown campus July 23-26 from 9:00-3:00 (breaking for lunch) in CCEN 243.
